Ask Lord Stark why he hesitates to serve the king.

"If I become Hand, Robert will take me south... to the nest of adders," Stark says, gazing up at the crimson-leafed weirwood.

Remind him that his family and personal power will benefit from his service to the crown.

Offer your sympathies for Jon Arryn and Lord Stark's difficult decision.

"Thank you," Lord Stark says. "Were I to become the Hand, my decision would effect all who swear fealty to me. I will not make such a move lightly."

Assure Lord Stark that he will have my support, whatever path he chooses.

Encourage Stark to accept the great honor of serving the king, no matter the sacrifice.
