Kirth asks for a room in the Crossroads Inn. The owner chews sourleaf with red-stained teeth. "Last room went to a woman and her father," she says.

Kirth grabs a drink shouts a toast. "To King Robert Baratheon and his new Hand, Lord Eddard Stark!" Mugs clash, and the room erupts in cheers.
Masha rejects Kirth's coin. "I didn't pay them much mind, but the man called his daughter 'Lady.' They're paid in full, so don't go bothering them."
"When I'm tired, I see odd sights," Kirth whispers. "Like diseased rats in your kitchen. Shame if others heard." Masha scowls. "I'll clear a room for you."
