A Leader is a type of Rank in an Alliance. Not all Alliances are run the same way, but within the game an Alliance Leader as the following game mechanics:

- Receive the Ravens (messages) sent to the Alliance Leader
- Have the ability to change the Settings of an Alliance (Description, Membership/Joining Status, Fealty)
- Can Appoint Officers within their Alliance
- Can change the Diplomacy of their Alliance with another Alliance (Friends, Enemies, or Neutral)
- Can Remove any member at any time (AKA, "Kick", "Boot", or "Excile")
- Can Build a Camp during an Alliance Vs Alliance Phase
- Start an Alliance Challenge
Leaders can allow their Officers and/or any member to perform some of these functions (change Diplomacy, Build Camps, Start Alliance Challenges, Exile Members), through an Alliance's Settings
The Leader of an Alliance is signified within an Alliance's listing with a crown icon (pictured right).
